Customer Management

Customer management is where vendors manage the companies they supply through Mathership. As a vendor, you can add new customers, link existing Mathership customers, view customer details, manage customer numbers, and review delivery locations connected to a customer.

What customer management is used for

Use customer management when you want to:
  • add a new customer to your vendor account
  • connect an existing Mathership customer
  • assign or update customer numbers
  • view customer company details
  • check a customer’s delivery locations
  • invite customers to connect with you
  • manage pending or accepted invitations

Customer relationships

When a customer is connected to your vendor account, Mathership creates a relationship between your vendor company and the customer company. This relationship allows the customer to interact with your vendor account, for example by viewing products, using lists, and placing orders where permitted.

Adding customers

You can add a customer manually when the customer is not yet connected to your vendor account. When you add a customer, Mathership can create the customer user, customer company, and vendor-customer relationship. The customer may receive an email to set up their password if they do not yet have access.

Linking existing customers

If a customer already exists in Mathership, you can link that customer to your vendor account instead of creating a duplicate. This creates a relationship between your vendor company and the existing customer company.
Customer numbers must be unique within your vendor account.

Customer numbers

Customer numbers help you match Mathership customers with your own internal ERP, accounting, or ordering system. A customer number belongs to the relationship between your vendor company and the customer company. This means the same customer may have different customer numbers for different vendors.

Customer details

The customer detail view shows the information stored for a connected customer, including company name, contact details, address, customer number, and delivery locations. Use this page to check whether a customer is correctly set up before they place orders.

Delivery locations

Delivery locations belong to the customer company. As a vendor, you can view the customer’s delivery locations in the customer detail area. Customers manage their own delivery locations from their account.

Invitations

Invitations allow customers to accept a connection to your vendor account. A customer must accept the invitation with a customer account. After acceptance, Mathership creates or activates the relationship between the customer and vendor.

Common workflow

A typical customer setup looks like this:
  1. Add the customer or link an existing customer.
  2. Assign a customer number if needed.
  3. Check the customer details.
  4. Review delivery locations.
  5. The customer can then order from your vendor account where permitted.
