The assistant opens with your conversation history on the left and the active chat on the right.
The assistant opens as a two-panel layout:

Right panelThe active chat area

Scope

Before sending a message, choose which data the assistant should work with using the scope selector in the top right of the chat panel.
ScopeWhat it covers
This companyInventory, orders, stock, and suggestions for the currently selected company
OrganizationData across all companies that belong to your organization
The Organization scope is only available if your company belongs to an organization. If no organization is configured, the scope selector will show that no organization is available.
Switching scope starts a fresh conversation. Your previous conversations are not deleted — they remain in the conversation list under the scope they were created with.

Sending messages

Type your question or instruction in the input field at the bottom of the chat panel and press Enter or click Send. The assistant responds with one or more message parts depending on the question. Responses can include plain text, tables, metric cards, charts, comparisons, and interactive elements.

Response types

The assistant can respond with different types of structured content depending on what you asked.

Text

A plain written answer. Used for explanations, summaries, and conversational responses.

Metric card

A highlighted figure with a title, a primary metric value, and optional secondary metrics.

Table

A data table with labelled columns and rows. Used for ingredient lists, order summaries, stock breakdowns, and similar multi-row data.

Comparison

A ranked list that compares entities by a metric, such as ingredients, vendors, or companies.

Time series

A chart showing one or more data series over time.

Brief

A structured multi-section report across multiple topics.

Choice chips

Clickable buttons shown when the assistant needs you to pick an option before it can continue.

Error

An error block describing what went wrong if the assistant cannot process part of your request.

Tables

Tables can include:
  • Quantities with units
  • Currency values
  • Percentages
  • Relative timestamps
  • Packaging breakdowns
  • Inline action buttons
Tables may also include pagination when the result set is large.

Comparison

A comparison is used for questions like “which ingredient has the highest waste” or “which vendor has the most orders”. Each row can show the value, its share of the total, and a delta against a baseline.

Time series

A time series is used for trend questions such as order volume over the last 30 days or stock changes per week.

Brief

A brief is used when the assistant prepares a comprehensive overview across multiple topics. Each section can contain its own text, tables, and data parts.

Draft order preview

When you ask the assistant to prepare an order, it shows a draft preview before anything is created. The preview includes:
  • Number of vendors
  • Number of items
  • Estimated total value
If a delivery location is required but not yet selected, the assistant will ask you to pick one before the draft can be created.
1

Ask the assistant to prepare an order

For example, ask the assistant to create a draft order based on reorder suggestions.
2

Review the draft preview

Check the number of vendors, number of items, and estimated total value.
3

Select a delivery location, if required

If a delivery location is missing, the assistant will ask you to choose one.
4

Click Create draft

Confirm the preview by clicking Create draft.
5

Review the draft on the orders page

The draft is then available on the orders page for review and sending.
Creating a draft from the assistant does not send the order. You still review and send it from the orders page.

Reorder suggestion actions

When the assistant surfaces reorder suggestions, it can include action buttons directly in the response.
ActionWhat it does
SnoozeSnoozes the reorder suggestion for the period chosen by the assistant
DismissPermanently removes the reorder suggestion from your list
Both actions show a confirmation dialog before executing.

What you can ask

The following are examples of questions the assistant can handle.
  • What’s the current stock level of [ingredient]?
  • Which ingredients are below the reorder point?
  • Show me everything in [storage unit]
  • What was the total inventory value last week?
  • Which items have had no movement in the last 30 days?
  • Show me yesterday’s stock movements

Conversations

Every chat session is saved as a conversation. You can return to previous conversations at any time to continue where you left off or review past answers.

Conversation list

The left panel shows all your conversations grouped by recency:
GroupWhen
TodayConversations with activity today
YesterdayConversations with activity yesterday
OlderAll earlier conversations

Search conversations

Use the search field at the top of the left panel to filter conversations by title.

Starting a new conversation

Click New chat in the top right of the chat panel to start a fresh conversation. The button is only active when the current conversation already has at least one message.

Archived conversations

Conversations can be archived to keep the list clean without deleting them. Click Show archived at the top of the conversation list to switch to archived conversations. Click Show active to return to the main list. Open the actions menu on a conversation in the list to delete it. Deleted conversations cannot be recovered.

Actions and confirmations

When the assistant proposes an action — such as creating a draft order, snoozing a suggestion, or dismissing a suggestion — it always shows a confirmation dialog before executing. You can cancel at any point before confirming. After an action completes, the assistant posts a system message in the chat confirming what was done.
ActionConfirmation message
Draft created”Draft created.”
Suggestion snoozed”Reorder suggestion snoozed.”
Suggestion dismissed”Reorder suggestion dismissed.”
If an action fails, the assistant posts an error message in the chat.

Limitations

The assistant works with the data available in your Mathership account. It does not:
  • Access data outside Mathership
  • Send orders automatically without confirmation
  • Modify ingredients, recipes, or product mappings
  • Delete inventory records
  • Access real-time external prices or market data
  • Guarantee 100% accuracy on all calculations
The assistant can make mistakes. Do not rely solely on the assistant for decisions that affect real orders, stock, or finances without verifying the underlying data in Mathership.

The Mathership AI Assistant is actively being developed. If you experience any of the following, please reach out to us at info@mathership.com:
  • The assistant gives an answer that is clearly wrong
  • The assistant creates an action you did not intend
  • The assistant is unable to answer questions it should know
