# Manage Invitations

Vendors can use invitations to connect customers with their vendor account.

An invitation lets a customer accept a connection to your vendor company. After the customer accepts the invitation, Mathership creates or activates the relationship between the customer company and your vendor company.

## What is an invitation?

An invitation is a connection request from a vendor to a customer.

The customer receives an invitation link and can accept it after logging in or creating access to Mathership.

## When to use invitations

Use invitations when:

* You want a customer to connect to your vendor account
* The customer should confirm the connection themselves
* The customer already uses Mathership
* The customer needs to activate their account before ordering
* You do not want to create the customer manually

## How invitation acceptance works

When a customer accepts an invitation, Mathership checks the invitation token and connects the customer to the vendor account.

The customer must be logged in as a customer user.

<Note>
Invitations can only be accepted by customer accounts. Vendor accounts cannot accept customer invitations.
</Note>

## Email verification and pending invitations

If a customer still needs to verify their email address, Mathership can activate pending invitations after successful email verification.

This helps connect the customer automatically after their account becomes active.

## Managing invitations

Depending on your account setup, the invitation management page may show invitations with different statuses.

Common invitation statuses may include:

| Status | Meaning |
| --------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| Pending | The invitation was sent but not accepted yet |
| Accepted | The customer accepted the invitation |
| Expired | The invitation can no longer be used |
| Cancelled | The invitation was cancelled |

## Customer accepts an invitation

To accept an invitation, the customer opens the invitation link and confirms the connection.

After acceptance:

* The customer is connected to your vendor account
* The customer can appear in your customer list
* The vendor-customer relationship is created or activated
* The customer can use your vendor account in Mathership where permitted

## Common problems

### Invitation link is missing

Send the invitation again or contact the customer directly.

### Customer cannot accept the invitation

Check whether the customer is logged in with a customer account.

### Wrong account type

Only customer accounts can accept customer invitations.

### Invitation is invalid or expired

Create a new invitation or ask the customer to use the latest invitation link.
